UX Case Study by Myung Ok (Star) Kim
KindMove is a gentle movement and reminder app designed to help older adults stay active without pressure. Through simple daily suggestions, light encouragement, and optional family involvement, the app supports consistent, confidence-building movement habits.
This case study walks through the end-to-end design process — from identifying user needs through interviews, to prototyping and usability testing — with a focus on creating a clear, supportive, and age-friendly experience.
Many older adults face mobility challenges due to physical limitations, fear of falling, and low motivation. These barriers often lead to reduced activity and a loss of confidence over time.
While fitness and wellness apps exist, they are often too complex, fast-paced, or focused on metrics. They rarely offer the kind of gentle, emotionally supportive experience older users need — and they often overlook the role of family.

To understand the needs, motivations, and pain points of older adults — and the role family plays in their well-being — I conducted a mixed-method research approach.
